Description from Goodreads:

We’ve all been there. Or more accurately, we’ve all been with kids in the backseat clamoring (over and over!) “Are we there yet?” In this genius of a picture book, bestselling author Nina Laden combines forces with dynamic illustrator Adam McCauley to turn that dilemma on its head. Fun for kids and adults, the book is filled with details that readers will want to hunt for (over and over!). Buckle up and enjoy the ride!

What I Thought:

This seemingly ordinary trip to Grandma’s grows increasingly fantastic and magical as the journey progresses.

The illustrations are definitely the highlight of the book. The bright, bold colours enhance the whimsical adventures the car takes them on.

One of my favourite things to do while reading this book is trying to spot the objects that recur on each page. Every object isn’t on every page however, and the nature of the objects changes depending on the which makes it a bit more of a fun challenge.

The only negative thing about this book is that before she’d read it Evelyn would never ask, “Are we there yet?” And now she does. It’s mostly on trips when we bring this book with us, so we’ve decided to leave it as a home reading book from now on, haha! But she reads this book over and over and over again. She adores it.

I hope this isn’t too much of a spoiler but my absolute favourite part of the book is the last page when the boy’s grandma asks him how his trip went. His answer?
