What I Thought:

What can I say about one of the most iconic songs of our time?

This beautiful message of hope imagines what the world would be like without the lines in the sand we have drawn.

The illustrations follow a little pigeon on a mission to bring happiness to all the other birds. The pigeon stops other birds from fighting, and makes friends of every kind of feather. I feel that having the main character be an animal invites children to see that differences are only on the outside – they are all birds! Of course they would all be friends! Just like we are all people.

The beautiful and simple foreword from Yoko Ono is aimed at children, and in it she explains that the most important thing to do is be kind. And in this uncertain time, I think that is wonderful.

This special book is the perfect reminder on the International Day of Peace to spread love and kindness wherever we go.
